How Your Mindset Helps or Hinders You

What does your dream life look like?

How does one create it?

Before you can get to that point, some inspection needs to take place. Specifically, that of your current mindset. There are two types of mindsets; a Fixed mindset, a Growth mindset, and then there's a whole range in between.

What is a Growth Mindset? Simply put, it means you believe that skill and intelligence can be developed. Carol Dweck, Professor of Psychology at Stanford University first coined this term. Her research on motivation and mindsets led her to become an expert on the reasons people succeed.

The other side of the coin is a Fixed Mindset. Those folks believe you’re either born with talent and intelligence, or you just plain don’t get them! That’s a very limited way of looking at the spectrum, when in fact, most people adopt a mindset somewhere in the middle.

Sounds better right? Nope.

The middle of the road approach still allows limiting beliefs to stop you from reaching your full potential. That’s why it’s crucial to get your mindset in order. You may be saying, “but how do I do that?”

I've got some good news: It’s not rocket science. Willingness to look in the mirror of your true self and grow ARE necessary.

Yes, it will drastically change your outlook. That in turn will change your approach to how you do things every single day. All those days add up with a different mindset.

You become better with a Growth Mindset. That leads to making those dreams of yours into goals that become reality.

I'm not your fairy godmother. I do however know what works to drastically turn one’s life around and check off boxes on a wish list of life goals. If you want to learn those same techniques, it’s time to start with your mindset.

Fixed Mindset Personality Traits:

- avoid situations that are challenging or seen as difficult

- quitting too soon

- inability to use constructive criticism

- jealousy and resentment of other people’s success

Growth Mindset Characteristics:

- readily tackle challenges

- perseverance

- see’s it through to the end

- values constructive criticism as a means to grow

- seeks to learn from the success of others

Now you see for yourself why your mindset may be costing you time, money and happiness.
